I had the pleasure to participate and it was a stimulating evening, a comparison between professionals and full of interesting ideas on architecture and landscape. The evenings are dedicated to various themes of landscape architecture: from the urban to the more territorial scale up to the new experiments.Patrick Thomson
The first evening entitled “THE LANDSCAPE IN TIME”, which was held on March 8, was hosted by the Spanish landscape painter Jordi Bellmunt, who told of himself, of his profession, of his work enchanting the hall.Jeff Dow
Bellmunt is the author of the very famous and beautiful projects such as the accommodation of the exterior of Casa Gaudì in Barcelona, the Iberdrola Tower Gardens where I was struck by his skilful use of grasses.Brenna Redding
Having a home of your own is a blessing that every single person in the earth wishes for. If you are going to build your own house, you should be considering a few things to avoid unnecessary pain in future. Have a look on the following:
Make a plan
Plan making is the initial and the most important step while doing any activity. When it comes to building your own house, it is not an easy task. It will take a huge amount of time and money so everything needs to be done on time and according to the plan. Make a plan by keeping in mind the meeting schedule with dealers, builder, architects etc. A proper plan can help you achieve the milestones. If you’re looking for something really advanced and custom, you should hire custom home builders canberra to help you out.
Site for construction
The most important thing about your home is that where it is going to be? Whether it’ll be in the metro city or your home town on the countryside, choose the site wisely. Look for all the possible routes from the regular and most visited places for example your or your family member’s workplace, your kid’s school, hospital, super market etc.
Setup a budget
Building a house is a big task and it will consume your money in no time. Only you can decide your house budget accordingly. Before hiring any builder, setup your budget so that a proposal according to the budget could be set up.
Choose builder wisely
While choosing the builder for your house construction, be wise. Check his previous work records and performance. Discuss your issues regarding builder in your circle so that someone could suggest you the best. Always go for the performance. A good builder is a key to a good house.
Plumbing and electricity
These two things might seem a very little piece of work while you are busy in deciding big stuff but believe me they might become your worst nightmare in future. While choosing the site for construction look for the proper sewerage system and electricity supplies in the surrounding.
Always take advice from expert in your circle like architects, home builders, plumbers, electrician or even your friends and family who had their homes constructed. Always stay in the contact and keep taking advices when you are about to start a new project while your house is under construction. It will not only give you different opinion of doing a single piece of work in different ways, but it can also save you from different flaws. Remember that, at the end of the day it’s your home and you are going to live I it for the rest of your life so make the best of it.
The joke is by Emanuele Quintarelli who, faced with the characteristics of the information architect listed by Joe Lamantia during the information architecture summit in Trento, suggested this additional additional quality.
The reflection comes after the annual Italian Information Architecture Summit . Many have been the stimuli and the reflections on a field and a profession that is acquiring maturity and has told numerous cases of excellence. In Italy, everyone has agreed, it is not easy to be an information architect, the profession is still rather difficult to implement and companies are still looking for programmers as a panacea for all the problems / ills of the web.
What we mean by information architecture (AI)
Already in 1998, Morville and Rosenfeld emphasized the difficulty of making friends and relatives understand what their work consisted of (and they made it on the street!):
I’m an information architect. I organize huge amounts of data on large websites and intranets so people can easily find what they’re looking for … I help my company make it easier to find products in their online stores … I deal with the problem of information overload, which is lately everyone complains (Rosenfeld and Morville 2002).
The definitions of the fathers of the AI still hold good the impact of the fast changes of the internet, in fact if we look for the definition of AI on Wikipedia we find:
Information architecture, also called information architecture, from the English term “information architecture”, is the logical and semantic organizational structure of information, contents, processes and functionalities of a computer system or application.
Information architecture is the core of any interaction design project. Applicable also outside of the computer environment, this structure is the fundamental core of any set of contents and data intended for use and, integrating information and processes, plays a key role in defining the real degree of usability and usability of a digital system for the end user.
The information architecture includes the technical and cultural tools for organizing, cataloging, searching, browsing and presenting content and data in the various formats available (digital and otherwise).
According to a well-known scheme proposed by Peter Morville and Louis Rosenfeld, the fundamental purpose of information architecture is to relate users and content, with a business purpose.
As for the Web, the two main aspects of information architecture are: the description of data (metadata) and interoperability.
In fact, until today the AI has dealt with the structure of the sites, both in the preliminary design work and during the construction. Its role is that of glue between graphics, content and design. According to the definition of the famous architect Richard Saul Wurman , a good information architect must:
- organize the intrinsic models in the data, making the whole clear
- to create a structure or map of information that makes it possible for each of them to go back to their own cognitive journey.
When it comes to renovating your home , the moment is certainly characterized by great stress that involves you and all the owners of the property. Not only does the thought run for money to invest in restructuring, but the fear, more than justified, concerns the result. And if it did not come out well? And if this place instead of doing it this way we did it as we said at the beginning? And if we furnish in Nordic style and not with classic furniture? All these questions (and many others) have certainly flashed in the mind of those who have lived or are experiencing the renovation of the house. To try to minimize problems from the root, the best thing is to choose an architect who can follow the whole process, indicating times, costs and ways of proceeding.
A professional figure to help you: the architect
The architect is the professional figure who can help you with the renovation of your home. The common thought is directed towards a character full of creativity, whimsical, unable to hear the opinion of others, but the reality is very different and a good architect is none of this. It must consider your needs, listen to your opinions, share your ideas with you, submit any problems and advise possible solutions. He is not a theoretician, he is not a figure that only thinks on abstract concepts, but he is the one who absolutely needs to have an approach aimed at practice. He must be endowed with a very high quality able to distinguish him from other figures and other people: the ability to imagine spaces even before they exist. This is the true essence of the architect’s profession. He must see realized in his head how the kitchen will be, how the bathroom will become, how the tavern will be, imagining everything in a practical key, with the furnishings and the present technology. This last concept does not stand out from the architect’s skills.
He must be updated on what the companies in the sector offer in terms of tiles, bathroom fixtures, bathroom furniture, living room furniture, storage and storage solutions and everything related to the habitability of the house, without neglecting the structural aspects . Surveyors, technicians, plant designers, are also important presences, but have nothing to do with the professional you are describing.
In a space that the architect must see as functional to the daily life of the family, he has the task of transforming into reality what he himself has only imagined with concreteness.
A trusted consultant
The first component to look at in an architect is trust. He, for a certain period of time, will become your consultant and you must give him space, but likewise you must also receive his trust. The relationship is therefore equal: you must trust him and him of you. However, it is not always easy and often we have to manage divergences of ideas, verbal conflicts and doubts of different kinds.
The architect’s research can be done by word of mouth, through knowledge or by research from authoritative sources.
By creating empathy between you and the architect, you can make it work well in the collaborative environment, but if there is no harmony, everything becomes more complex and difficult.
That architects are “strange” as they are often defined, can also be true, but it is the fruit of their creativity, of their way of seeing things in advance. There are professional figures who prove eccentric, particularly fanciful, extremely picky and meticulous. Before proceeding with the work, you must talk to him, invite him for an inspection in the house to be renovated and discuss your ideas and then put them in relation to his.
A valid professional usually makes use of a photographic collection of his work. Ask them without fear of showing you images of what you have done in the past so that you can also get an idea of the architect’s style and working method. Flipping through a photo album or seeing images on a tablet or laptop, a light bulb in your head may come on and make you think of an implementable solution in your home.
How an architect works
The architect is able to provide added value to the home. He starts from a current situation (a house to be restored) and molds it up to completely transform it according to his ideas, which however must always respect your needs. These, he must seize them, understand them and focus them. You do not have to run into the mistake that is often done, meaning the terms “idea” and “solution” as synonyms. Having an idea does not mean possessing the solution automatically. You could have an implementation proposal that externalized to the architect, he evaluates it, analyzes it and then has the task of turning it into solution, where possible. The way and the tools he should put them there, the result of his studies, his experience and his skills, looking for advantages and disadvantages of the proposals. Therefore, the architect must transform your needs into architectural concepts.
It is up to the architect to face different hypotheses, not only ideological, but also regarding time and costs. It is his duty to inform you whether a proposal has a price higher than another, or requires longer execution times. A good architect has developed a network of contacts with suppliers able to provide information about the project, from which the necessary information must be drawn in order to communicate, in an exhaustive manner, prices, problems and timing.
The architect is therefore a figure with tasks of mediation and coordination, able to translate into practice what was discussed with you, proposing technically valid solutions and illustrating the various possible alternative solutions.
